The People's Advocacy Service have a three year contract with NHS Dumfries & Galloway NHS Board and Council to provide two core independent advocacy service from April 2007 - March 2010.

These services are:

  •    Generic Adult Advocacy Services - to promote empowerment of adult residents of Dumfries and Galloway who require help, in whatever context, to understand the options open to them and/or to make their own views known.
  •          Mental Health Advocacy - To provide Advocacy to those affected              by Mental Disorder as defined in the Mental Health (Care and             Treatment) (Scotland) Act 2003.

We are an Independent Service-
  • This means that we are not managed by Local Authority nor the NHS. 
  • We are a Charitable Company Limited by Guaruntee and are governed by a Board of Directors. 
  • We are independent of all other organisations.
